Guarded by Jack Junior the cat and a sprite African Guinea Fowl (who, curiously, are best friends … no kidding), The Retreat is a quaint cottage tucked at the far end of The Farm at South Mountain property. A waft of incense lets you know you’re in the right place as you walk up the path to this hidden treasure. The reception area has an open Zen-like area for shiatsu, yoga and other Asian therapies. Central to The Retreat is a homey kitchen that leads to two spacious treatment rooms and a cute-as-a-button restroom. The therapists have a warm and gentle presence, and The Retreat wrapped us in a wave of unpretentious healing from the moment we entered. Call ahead for special events and yoga, meditation, chi gung and creative exploration classes.
